I want to be in the mountains everyday, on the Blue Ridge Parkway, photographing adventurous couples, like Katie & Chase, who are deeply in love with each other! Elopements, anniversaries, engagements, you name it! Let’s hike together, have an adventure and photograph you two while we’re at it!
Katie and Chase choose the Blue Ridge Parkway for their engagements because they love hiking and camping together. Whether it’s a multiple day backpacking trail or a day hike Katie and Chase try to get out to the mountains to spend quality time together as frequently as they can. I love this about them!
We had an adventure ourselves getting to their engagement session. The park rangers were closing down the Blue Ridge Parkway for the snowstorm that was expected to impact the conditions the following day. I thought we would be all set because the road still listed as open online and the snow wasn’t coming until the next day! But when we turned onto the Blue Ridge Parkway we were met with a gate.
Just as we were debating what we were going to do, two Park Rangers pulled up and began chatting with each other. We collectively decided to send Katie over to talk to them, who was clearly dressed up and not prepared for an overnight camping trip. I thought this was our best shot and while she told them about her dream of having her engagement session done in the Blue Ridge Mountains they happily agreed with her and let us through!
It was chilly! You could feel the winter air creeping in, and Katie and Chase kept each other warm with blankets and coffee! I could photograph off of the trails of the Blue Ridge Parkway and never get bored. In fact, I plan to mark off trails and hikes along the parkway for the rest of my life. I believe, Katie and Chase will be doing that with each other for years to come as well.
