Every Thanksgiving my family travels down to the Outerbanks to spend the holiday together. I can always remember my cousin Nathan taking us out on the beach with his jeep when we were younger, searching for the wild horses of C0rova. Then came along his now fiancé, Meridith, and this quickly became one of their traditions together as well. I jumped at the opportunity to photograph their engagement session somewhere that was special to them, at a time where we would be together and not have to worry about busy schedules. We started by one of the old Lighthouses in Corova, where Nathan and Meridith always drive too. Our entire family loves Meridith and is very glad that Nathan has found someone as wonderful as her to spend the rest of their lives together.
I have always had a special bond to my cousin Nathan, and he has always been there for me whenever I have needed him. Because of this, I wanted to somehow give back to them to show my appreciation for being such great friends, cousin and soon to be cousin-in-law to me. So, we spent around two hours driving on the beach, stopping at little nooks that caught my eye. We laughed hysterically, got followed by the “horse tours” going on because they would see me behind trees and old boats and thought I was taking pictures of the wild horses, we had amazing light, and the best part was goofing off with my cousins and friends.
When their wedding day happens May 2015, I won’t be photographing their wedding because Meridith asked me to be one of her bridesmaids. I cannot wait to stand up there with them and witness these two amazing people getting married to each other. I’m honored to be asked and love them both so much! Congratulations Nathan & Meridith! I already knew that the two of you were perfect for each other but that definitely was exemplified in your engagement session, watching the two of you so in love with each other.
