Lizzie and Zach choose the Freemason District for their engagement portraits in Norfolk. They are college sweethearts from Old Dominion University and wanted an area close to where they dated all of those years in college, but didn’t necessarily want their portraits on campus. I love walking around the Freemason district, looking at all of the older homes, the cobblestone roads and of course I think that is a beautiful setting for engagement portraits.
Lizzie was in my sorority, Alpha Xi Delta, in college and her and Zach always seemed like the perfect match! Zach is the groom that told me at their friends’ wedding last year that he was going to propose to Lizzie soon! Imagine having to keep that secret and still photograph them dancing at the reception!
Five years of dating led them to this evening for their Freemason District Norfolk engagements where they walked around the streets with me stopping along the way for portraits! They got to flirt with each other in front of my camera, which is how I like to describe an engagement portrait session with me! I always say that you are suppose to have fun, you get to flirt with each other for about two hours and then I suggest to make a date night out of it afterwards! They trusted me when I found an abandoned and overgrown garden, which I loved the way those portraits turned out! Then we ended the evening in possibly my most favorite spot in the Freemason District!
I am counting down the days until their wedding day, and am a little sad I have to wait until May next year to photograph them again! The way Zach would look at Lizzie took my breath away and I can’t wait to photograph their love again! Congratulations Lizzie and Zach!
